Amsterdam Publishers is an independent, mid-sized publishing house founded in 2012 and dedicated exclusively to Holocaust memoirs, Holocaust survivor testimonies, and Holocaust biographies. We publish first-hand survivor accounts as well as second and third generation Holocaust memoirs, ensuring that personal histories of the Holocaust are preserved with accuracy and dignity.
Based in The Netherlands and working internationally, Amsterdam Publishers is widely recognised as the leading publisher of Holocaust memoirs in Europe.
International Publisher of Holocaust Memoirs and Holocaust Testimonies
Amsterdam Publishers focuses solely on Holocaust-related writing. Our list includes Holocaust survivor memoirs, child survivor testimonies, and memoirs written by second generation (2G) and third generation (3G) authors. These books are grounded in lived experience and contribute directly to Holocaust remembrance, historical understanding, and education.
While each memoir tells an individual story, the themes of survival, moral choice, trauma, resilience, and responsibility speak to readers across generations and cultural backgrounds.
Holocaust Book Publisher
Amsterdam Publishers works with authors from Europe, Israel, the United States, South America, Australia, and New Zealand. As an international Holocaust book publisher, we ensure worldwide availability of our titles in ebook, paperback, and hardback editions.
Our books are distributed globally and are available to:
• bookshops
• libraries
• museums and memorial centres
• educational institutions
• online platforms
Many Amsterdam Publishers titles have reached international Amazon bestseller lists and continue to be widely used in Holocaust education and remembrance programs.
Translation and Foreign Rights for Holocaust Memoirs
To extend the reach of Holocaust testimonies, Amsterdam Publishers actively pursues translations and foreign rights licensing. Our Holocaust memoirs have been published in more than twenty languages, allowing survivor stories and descendant narratives to reach readers worldwide. This international approach reflects our commitment to ensuring that Holocaust history is not confined by borders or language.
Working with JewishAuthors
Amsterdam Publishers works closely with its authors throughout the publishing process. Each manuscript is assessed with care, and selected projects receive professional editorial guidance, international distribution, and long-term support. We accept a limited number of manuscripts each year and publish only Holocaust memoirs and Holocaust biographies written by survivors, child survivors, and second and third generation authors.
Amsterdam Publishers only accepts Holocaust memoirs and Holocaust biographies written by 2G and 3G authors, with a wordcount of no less than 60.000. We are getting more agented manuscripts, but also accept manuscripts straight from the author.
For submissions, see Author Information for full details.
Recognition and Press
Amsterdam Publishers and its authors have been featured internationally for their contribution to Holocaust remembrance and education, including coverage in The Jerusalem Post and The Jewish Press.
“There can be no substitute for hearing first-hand accounts from those who suffered during the Holocaust. As survivors disappear, the responsibility increasingly lies with the second and third generations to carry these stories forward.” — The Jerusalem Post
